Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Receiptr. By downloading, installing, or using the Receiptr app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "user") and Receiptr ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Receiptr mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Receiptr is a personal expense tracking application that provides the following features:
Receiptr is a personal budgeting tool only. It is not a financial institution, bank, investment advisor, or licensed financial service. Nothing in the app constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
Registration: You may use Receiptr as a guest (with limited features and no data backup) or create a free registered account by providing your name and email address. You are responsible for providing accurate information.
Email verification: After creating an account, you will receive a verification email from [email protected]. Email verification is required to access AI receipt scanning features.
Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your login credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
One account per user: You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent feature limits or any restrictions.
Account termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
Guest accounts allow limited use of Receiptr without registration. Guest data is stored only on your local device and is not synced to Firebase or iCloud. If you delete the app, clear app storage, or lose your device, your guest data cannot be recovered. Guests do not have access to AI receipt scanning. We strongly recommend creating a free account to protect your data.
Free plan: All registered users receive 5 complimentary AI receipt scans. All manual entry and budgeting features are free and unlimited.
Receiptr Pro: A paid subscription at $4.99 USD per month, which includes unlimited AI receipt scans, AI budget regeneration, and access to all current and future Pro features.
Billing: Pro subscriptions are processed and managed through the Apple App Store. By subscribing, you authorize Apple to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis. Your subscription will automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds: All refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
Price changes: We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days notice.
Receipt scanning: AI receipt scanning uses Anthropic's API to extract data from receipt images. While we strive for accuracy, AI-extracted data may contain errors. You are solely responsible for reviewing and correcting any scanned information before saving. Receiptr is not liable for any errors in AI-extracted data. Email verification is required to use AI scanning.
Budget generation: The AI Budget Setup feature generates budget recommendations based on information you provide. These are suggestions only and do not constitute financial advice. Actual spending needs may vary. You are solely responsible for any financial decisions based on app-generated budgets.
Service availability: AI features require an active internet connection and depend on third-party API availability (Anthropic). We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of AI features.
You own all financial data and content you enter into Receiptr. By using the app, you grant Receiptr a limited, non-exclusive license to process and store your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your data.
You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter. Do not enter sensitive financial credentials such as bank account numbers, passwords, or credit card numbers into Receiptr — the app is not designed to store such information.
Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore and backed up to Apple iCloud. Both services use industry-standard encryption. We implement reasonable technical safeguards including encrypted data transmission, Firebase security rules restricting data access to account owners only, and Firebase Authentication for secure login.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device and account credentials secure.

Your use of Receiptr is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.
The Receiptr name, logo, app design, and all related content are owned by Receiptr and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use our name, logo, or branding without prior written permission. Your personal data remains yours at all times.
Receiptr integrates with the following third-party services:
We are not responsible for the practices, content, availability, or failures of these third-party services, including outages or errors caused by Anthropic's API, Google Firebase, or Apple's iCloud and App Store services. Interruption of third-party services may affect the availability of certain app features.
Receiptr is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL) and Firebase security rules. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID credentials secure.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Receiptr and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Receiptr and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes where possible. If we discontinue the Service, we will provide at least 30 days notice and give you the opportunity to export your data.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles, and regardless of your location or country of residence. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Receiptr shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in British Columbia, Canada, in accordance with applicable arbitration rules. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit against Receiptr.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. Your continued use of Receiptr after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Receiptr regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
